We love farmer markets and had a perception that veggies, fruit and a variety of foods are what you find at a farmers market. Not the case at the Downtown Melbourne FL Farmers Market, which sets up each Saturday in the 1900 Building parking area (corner of US1 and Strawbridge) from 10 AM to 3 PM.
We caught up with owners, Tim and Karen Shey, who enlightened us with the variety of vendors that come to set up on Saturdays.
The Foodies Florida video crew roamed around the market and shot video with an array of vendors. Kooky Sues offers an awesome selection of fresh baked goods, Starbody Coffee Beauty Products recycles coffee grinds, Mimi’s Cottage Kitchen has a variety of homemade sourdough breads, Sammy Lynn’s Bakery specializes in all kinds of baked goods, Kelly Rambo is an independent consultant with Neal’s Yard Remedies. Tim and Karen Shey also own TCS Foods and make delicious cheese spreads, fresh made sauces and more with their owner vendor space at the Downtown Melbourne FL Farmers Market. There were many more vendors that we were unable to get on video, one of them was Peter Moolhuizen who heads up the non profit organization to Save Dragon Point, so sad that Annie the dragon recently collapsed into the river. We plan to catch up with Peter at a later time to get an update on the progress being made to save this wonderful Brevard FL relic.
Tim said, “it’s a bit slower in the summer months but we plan to rev up in the fall and will be open on Sundays as well.” If you have not been to the Downtown Melbourne FL Farmers Market we give it a big thumbs up and suggest you carve some time out on a Saturday and go take a look. All of us on the RPVM Team are positive you’ll like it as much as we do!
